Grand Final of the Tango High School Cup

Last Saturday, 10 July 2021, the grand final of the Tango High School Cup took place. The participants, who had qualified in the elimination rounds between March and July, competed in Fortnite and Brawl Stars to be the best student in Luxembourg in their respective games.

While the podium places in the Fortnite final went to students from the Schengen Lyzeum Perl – PKTomasVS, Myzu and Valoryy – there were no big surprises. Unlike Brawl Stars, where most of the favourites struggled. This is also reflected in the results: there is one favourite on the podium – Zero_O (LGL) in first place – while Overloard360CCH (LGE) and Twitch_Killer (EIMLB) were the big surprises.

In addition to the individual competition, Lycée de Garçons de Luxembourg was the top-ranked school of the 38 secondary schools that took part in the championship. It had already been decided before the grand final on 10 July, that the LGL was confirmed as the best secondary school.

Fortnite:

  • PKTomasVS (SLP)
  • Myzu (SLP)
  • Valoryy (SLP).

Brawl Stars:

  • Zero_o (LGL)
  • Overloard360CCH (LGE)
  • Twitch_Killer (EIMLB)

As in traditional sports, Esports is not spared from cheaters. Participants in the Tango High School Cup, for example, had to be disqualified for not following the rules on fair play grounds.

The Tango High School Cup in numbers:

With more than 650 participants from 38 different high schools, more than 15,000 unique spectators and a total of more than 24,000 views, the first edition of the Tango High School Cup tops the list of most-watched esports events in the Grand Duchy, surpassing the official figures set for the 2021 edition of Post Esports Masters (PEM.)
